Gabriel Staznik's Drum Set Workbook (2015 Edition) is designed to provide students with exercises and additional resources to develop the skills used in today's professional performing and recording situations. Each chapter will include: • Topics to be discussed with your teacher in lessons • Method Books to further your course of study within each chapter (listed by difficulty, Levels 1-4) • Grooves to learn and memorize • Supplemental Materials for additional information and practice • Other Suggested Resources It is suggested to work through this workbook with a private teacher. It is not necessary to follow the material in any particular order and it may be tailored to each student's individual needs. Take note of the four levels suggested when considering additional method books. The grooves in each chapter should be practiced and memorized. There are countless amounts of grooves and variations that are available and appropriate for each style. The grooves provided are commonly known in those styles and are to be considered a starting point and may be used for reference. There are many of topics, suggested method books, and resources found throughout this workbook. Students should take their time and fully understand each concept before jumping around to different chapters. Your goal should be to sound authentic in each of the feels and styles when working through the concepts. About the Author
Gabriel Staznik is a freelance performer, educator, and arranger residing in the Lancaster, Pennsylvania area. He performs regularly at the prestigious American Music Theatre (Lancaster, PA) and is currently performing on stage in American Music Theatre's newest Original Production. Gabriel is on the music faculty at Lancaster Bible College, Music Director and the Arranger for Windish Music and Productions, and Director of the Total Percussion Seminar music camps. Gabriel has performed and recorded with Grammy, Emmy, and Tony award-winning artists. He recently toured with the legendary Chubby Checker & The Wildcats (The Twist!) and has performed on-stage with artists including Kristen Chenoweth (Broadway/Film), and James Wolpert and Cole Vosbury (from NBC's The Voice). Gabe has been the house drummer/percussionist at American Music Theatre since 2009 and has performed with the PRiMA Theatre Co., Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre, Allenberry Playhouse, Hershey Entertainment and Resorts, Allan Albert Productions' Internationally Award-Winning (IAAPA) production of Trash Time, and for SRO Associate's production of Lightning Strike. As an arranger/composer you can hear his works being performed by Junk Rock at Canobie Lake Park (Salem, NH), by the IAAPA Award-Winning Cocoa Rhythm Factory at Hershey Park (Hershey, PA), and by scholastic percussion ensembles across the county. His works have been published by HoneyRock Publishing and STRAJK Publications. Gabriel has recently released his holiday CD, The Nutcracker Suite: A Percussion Performance and has recorded for NFL Films, Def Jam Records’ Platinum and Grammy artist LL Cool J, Sports Music Emmy Awarded Hedden Music, and for American Music Theatre's Cast Album Recordings. Gabriel holds a Bachelor's degree in Music Education with a focus in percussion from West Chester University. He is a member of the Percussive Arts Society, National Association of Rudimental Drummers, Pennsylvania Friends of Jazz, and proudly endorses Vic Firth Sticks & Mallets, Remo Drumheads, and Beato Bags. www.GabrielStaznik.com
